I am a photojournalist. Thus, I sometimes have to push my camera and lens beyond their limits. Social movements, extreme conditions or low light, I have to be able to adapt to all situations.

Based on this reason, when I tried the SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary lens, I immediately began to take it with me wherever I would go with no hesitation.

When I visited the Rivierre nail workshop located in the north of France, I knew right away that it would be a perfect test for this lens. Wide shots, details, portraits, etc… I believed I would be able to produce all types of photos possible. Created at the end of the 19th century, the production methods of this workshop have hardly changed since. In the hangars straight out of the Industrial Revolution, the luminous atmosphere is one that I particularly like to photograph. The light tones are vivid and the shadows are deep.

Throughout the history of SIGMA as a lens manufacturer, I have seen a direct link with what makes SIGMA’s DNA. A unique know-how that has endured for years, without denying its origins or heritage. Therefore, Rivierre nail workshop is the perfect place to experience the SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary. In use, I rediscovered that this lens upholds the remarkable rendering and contrasts of the Art class image quality, which in my opinion are the charm of SIGMA products.

On the other hand, its F2.8 aperture is clearly appreciable, especially in portrait. It allows the subject to stand out well while at the same time detaching it well from the background. And then the lightness is another crucial merit for sure. Accustomed to full frame cameras and the oftentimes heavy lenses for these systems, I sometimes almost forgot that I had a hybrid camera and lens on shoulder strap.

Whether for street, reportage or portrait photography, the SIGMA 28-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary is the versatile and high-quality lens par excellence. In short, I loved this lens which, to my taste, has all the necessary qualities to make it an indispensable lens.

Small, light, precise and with an impressive rendering, it is the ideal lens to carry with you on a daily basis and for visual storytelling projects.
